Went to Walmart earlier and stopped by the ammo case. They had 2 boxes of 325 Federal Auto Match .22LR. I asked a guy that works there if he could get somebody to get me some ammo. While we are waiting, he says to me "you know we only sell rifle ammo now, no handgun ammo, right? No 9mm, no .223." with an attitude. I tell him, "no, you have plenty of handgun ammo in there. I'm about to buy some .22LR and me and my 8-year-old are gonna shoot it out of his handgun." He says "yeah, but that's rifle ammunition." At this point I'm more annoyed than anything else. I reply to him, "No, .22 Long RIfle is the caliber, they have .22LR handguns, rifles, carbines, etc. and I used to have a .308 Pistol and you have .308 ammo in there. Just like they have 9mm rifles and .223 rifles, which you said was handgun ammo, and that particular caliber was meant to be shot out of a rifle anyway." At that point the guy with the key got there and that asshole walked away. After it was all said and done my girl thought that I overreacted. I don't really think so, but what do y'all think?

Oh, And here's my score after dealing with doofus...

I don't think you over-reacted. But I quit arguing with them a long time ago at the Monroe WalMart. Somebody there started this weird policy that if you bought handgun ammo, you had to be escorted out of the store with it immediately, but not rifle ammo.:noidea: So when I'd buy any kind of ammo, they'd say, "Is this for a handgun?" & I'd say, "No." & everything was cool. idjits.

Let me tell you something, Sergeant. When we get on the five yard line, you're gonna need my Rangers.
School RO at the HS here by the station was there in Somalia during that. He was a ranger. Pretty cool dude, and he says it’s a shitty as you could think like the movie. Short run turned into lack of equipment and came back to bite them in the ass

Kind of the same as bitching to a server that your steak isn’t cooked right.

As the gun buying spree unfolds and you can’t even find Ungulates of Destitution or other poverty-end ARs on the shelves, as others have pointed out, don’t overlook the SKS.

It’s not sexy, it’s not that accurate, it doesn’t have a large-capacity magazine, it’s heavy, and it’s way outdated. But it goes BANG with very boring reliability and will hit man-sized targets out to 300m.

This Chinese SKS will chomp down corroded steel-case Wolf 7.62x39 like Charlie Sheen snorting blow off a hooker’s ass.

An SKS is quite far from the first choice for self-defense in the looming apocalypse where in a week or two we’ll all be running around in Mad Max outfits. But if you failed to prepare and now have to take what you can get, an SKS is far better than Joe “Tactical” Biden’s recommendation of a double-barrel shotgun.

EDIT: SKSs are in stock and available from Atlantic Firearms, though make sure you have something to get rid of the cosmoline as they’re going to take some work before they’re ready to shoot

Love my SKS. As you said, it’s not ideal, but a chicom chest rig loaded with 20 stripped clips gives me 200 rounds of 7.62x39, I by no means feel under gunned.
