If anyone wants to become a lawyer and doesn't let themselves be talked out of it, heck, I will give out all the best advice for not fucking it up and making it slightly less miserable of an experience. I'm just saying that it takes a lot of time, money, and hard work for a set of outcomes that operate independently of your output.
What’s the purpose of this gun after you chop the barrel? CQB only?
Just asking because depending on how much you chop, won’t the ballistics drop along with the accuracy at distance?
So that’ll relegate it to being practically a pistol, which you already have in that caliber...

So if this is roughly the same as 5.7, and you’re going from 16” to 10”, you’ll only lose about 100-180fps, depending on your load.
Then you gotta determine if that critically changes the performance of the bullet, and if this is all worthwhile for a 6” shorter barrel and the hassle and wait.

Here’s your real numbers, same bullet SS198LF green tip chrono @ 10 feet around 2650 FPS
here’s the numbers from same round, out of a 10.5” SBR barrel chrono at 10y
clearly you can tell yes you lose velocity, about a 40 ft/lbs loos of energy on target at MY max distances of 200y
200y is as far as all I’ll attempt to stretch this weapon with or without a 16” barrel.
Im willing to sacrifice said velocity, and add a bit to my holdovers to chop that barrel. Especially when this shines within 100y I’m ok with a 28gr bullet producing 305ftlbs @ 100 with the shorter bbl
