I started latching on to mil-surp back in the early 90s - guns were cheap, and it's what I could afford. I did some outlaw tattooing on the side, and picked up quite a few in trade as well.
When I'd get a rifle I wasn't familiar with (as in the M-39), I'd study up on it, and get a lesson in history. As much as I'd read about WW2, I knew nothing of The Winter War.
