Not sure what a non-ramped or ramped BCG is though. I'll ask New Frontier Armory when their BCG is coming out.

Is the buffer tube assembly the same as an AR15?

@Cudruln if you have a trigger, I probably have the rest of a LPK in extra parts.
Ramped bcg's use standard hammers, non ramped require a notched hammer that is found on rock river guns normally

NWS explained this to me the other day. He also said you could ramp a regular BCG with a good file. Or Bryan could do it in 60 seconds.

Do you happen to have the spacer to go with that piston? I have a Tirant 9 and a 1/2x36 barrel at the moment.
I have one but can't sell it since I'll still need it for my setup.

the spacer is only about $20. the piston sells for what - $60ish?

I will take you up on that. I should be able to come up with a trigger. May even do a giessel on this one. Was pleased with it on the other build I did.

I've heard that some after market triggers don't work with the 9mm bolts - and the ramped vs non-ramped compatibility has me all confused. My 9mm build will never be a bench shooter so I left the standard, crappy mil spec trigger in with my ramped bolt.

Had a half a mind to try it on my other sbr with a geissele SD3G trigger in but I opted for the dedicated top-loading Hahn block. I'd have to remove the mag catch and quite frankly - I've been really lazy lately.

So yeah I am confused on the ramped and non ramped crap also. So in order to run a non notched hammer I need to look for a ramped bcg?

Does anybody have a definite answer on what trigger is suggested for a AR 9 build?

The RRA hammer is $20 and available at a few places. The bcg can be easily ramped. PM NWS. He has info on this.

I would still be purchasing a bcg so would it be easier to get a ramped or non ramped.

You can get non ramped but if you buy an upper where the bcg is included, from say PSA, it will be non ramped. Then you could pay Bryan at Dobbs a few bucks to ramp it for you. Or if you have good files NWS can tell you how.

I'm thinking I'd rather get a notched hammer than ramp a BCG. A $10 part vs $80 part. Is one setup more reliable than the other?

Where is @NWS?

Edit: nevermind, seems like a ramped BCG is the way to go. Then you can use any trigger you want.

That's what I am looking for. So a ramped bcg will allow any trigger. I now have the option of a regular bcg and getting Dobbs to ramp it. Now will any bcg work or is there a specific bcg for a 9mm firing pin? Thanks for all the info guys

Guessing after shipping and all may just be easier to have it done local?
If you find someone who knows how to do it.

Just make sure they take he least material off as possible. iIrC there was a company cut all the way in from the side, rather than simply cutting grooves for the mag lips

So when building the ar 9 what is a good barrel length?

Is there any major differences between a pistol and rifle length upper?
