AR mags. And, I have no idea? What do you mean by miserable? Recoil? Sound?
Gotcha. Thats typically a kinda expensive build due to the cost of parts. Have you considered 300 blkout? Nearly identical trajectory and terminal ballistics but can be far quieter, far less concussion, far less flash, can use regular AR mags, can use a regular AR lower, typically cheaper to build and more parts out there for them etc etc etc... Only problem is the price of the ammo lol...

Crazy concussion, crazy loud (like double ear protection and still leave with a headache loud), crazy bright flash... Hell a can will mostly fix that, but for reference, look how the flash makes it THROUGH a can lmao... skip to 2:23

That's half the reason I want one. I want something that is ridiculous, but effective at the right range.

hahahaha well shit then this is right up your alley... "at the right range" is a big thing to consider. 762x39 starts dropping like a ton of bricks around 300 yards and becomes subsonic not long after, and shit thats out of a 16" barrel. Then consider the accuracy of a shitty, low pressure, steel cased, likely steel core projectile out of a 7-10" barrel. Idk what the ARs in 762x39 are shooting but I cant imagine too much better than the AKs which are typically around 3moa. So sure it might make a great toy, but I wouldnt think much else.

To be clear the 300blkout trajectory is nearly identical in all ways. Not trying to sway anyone either way, just laying out the little bit of info I happen to know.

I already have the 7,62x39 mags and ammo. The cost of 300 blkout ammo is just too high for my bank account. I am not completely sold on the 7,62 pistol yet, I may change my mind or go w/ a 10.5" barrel?

ahhhh I gotcha. do you plan on suppressing it? 10.5 is a lot better, but still a flame thrower lol

Except AKs are almost impossible to suppress (at least very expensive to do so), the magazine design sucks balls, no bolt hold back, shitty optics options, and if you do manage to get a suppressor on there without getting a baffle strike, the suppression is going to suck too.

OP, I ran a 7.5" 7.62x39 upper and used a standard buffer and spring. The only things I did was use a heavier hammer spring and longer firing pin to insure primer ignition. My ran like a raped ape. @Cudruln has my upper now. I assume it is running good for him as well.
Man that thing is still sitting in the safe. I have not even put it on a lower yet. I can only assume it will run just as good as it did for you.

I understand that. I own more guns and ammo than ever in my life and have a range in my backyard. I don't think I have shot a gun since our get together a few months back here ato my house.
