Do you all have any recommendations for a home defense pistol or rifle for an older women, (60s)? My mom is by herself now and we were talking about it yesterday. She has my dad's old Glock 19 Gen 2 in her room but she has a hard time racking the slide. She can do it but not with confidence.

She is better with the 38 special S&W, so I was thinking maybe a S&W wheel gun in 22 Magnum? I dunno. Or maybe a Ruger 10/22 Charger? Just tryna come up with something easy but also can murk season if it needs too.
Shotgun?

Put a lighter weight recoil spring in the g19
If she's not shooting thousands of rounds through it should hold up

what do you guys think on the weight? Based off the description the stock weight on a 19 is 18lbs. That seems like a lot, not sure if thats accurate

. Also wouldnt want the tension to be too little, causing malfunctions. Don't wanna add problems to the mix lol.

Anybody know if the S&W EZ series is actually easier to rack like they claim? They also have a version with laser grips.

Just catching up on the thread. Sorry for your loss @AC-130 Above. Prayers for you & your family.
Thanks Grunk. Been hard on us all.

Drop to #12 or #14 or abouts
Pistol will have a touch more felt recoil but much easier to rack

I don't know what the lowest weight is that can be used without damaging the pistol
