That shit sucks. I thought I was a patient man until I fitted my first mag release. It helps to tape it off with something like gaffer tape or gorilla or something...It can be filed while still in the gun. Use a handfile and go slow. You need to file the "wings" also, not just the front part.
KK rules:34mags per 1k ammo
It's like a golden rule or something
I’ve had several 4.5’s, not flimsy at all. I was always under the impression the stocks were the same just a beefier hinge pin. Look for a regular 74 kit and just buy a folding stock and trunnion assembly separate. More cost efficient than an aks kit.AK-74 Bulgarian side folder question.
About to order a kit and have to decide between 4.5mm or 5.5 mm.
Is the 5.5mm worth an extra $20?
It's just a thicker stronger stock, no other differences, right?
Is the 4.5mm flimsy or something?
Anyone seen a complete kit for less than $200
check this first probable cause of your problem.. filing mag catch is last resort will cause some of the mags that fit now won't seat high enough to allow proper feedingI think that’s what they’re called I have a set of four, four different shapes that I’ve used for tight spaces
this is quoted from another forum as well look at this
“It seems to most often be an issue where the ramp leading to the tab (from top rear of the mags feed lip) starts to hit the rear of the mag well. This keeps the mag from going deeper and makes it hard for the catch to clear the tab. Filing the rear of the mag well back 1mm, for just the width of the mag catch/rib, seems to be about right in these cases. This usually appears in only WASRs and kit builds in my very limited experience.”
Neither bothered me one way or the other. I’d opt for price and availability. If you’re trying to build authentic and correct base your decision off of that regardless of size.AK-74 Bulgarian side folder question.

Thank you sirI dunno.. just trying to come up with a way to make it easier.
Good luck.
i don’t have any 38. Like 1 box maybe and I’m out of 357. I’m guessing @3x bought all that when Walmart liquidated their inventoryI noticed the same thing the other day when in the safe. I have 1 38 revolver and notice i have 1 whole box of 38special. good thing I mainly shoot 9mm. Nice storage!
I’ll see if I can find some small files at harbor freight or somethingIt can be filed while still in the gun. Use a handfile and go slow. You need to file the "wings" also, not just the front part.
4.5 mm was OG Soviet spec. Now it is 5.5. Bulgarians use 4.5mm still. Stock is the same, but hinge is stronger.I’ve had several 4.5’s, not flimsy at all.
