Who was the KK'er that recently bought a new US General tool box setup? I need a new base & top, 40-50" size - not opposed to paying for quality, but don't need Snap-on level for home use. In looking at reviews, US General seems to beat out Craftsman/Kobalt/Milwaukee...

I have a hard time whenever I see someone with a $100K Vette and something other than Snap-On/Blue Point/Mac/Matco in the garage, it's like Pep Boys tires on a Ferrari :pound:

In all seriousness, boxes from the Big 3 can be had on the used market reasonable if you wait long enough. I passed up a Classic 78 for $1200 very recently and probably could have got it for less. I would have snapped it up but my garage at the new house doesn't have enough room.

Not me, but i did get a pretty good deal on a used Kobalt. I think it was about $100 and in good shape. Craigs list (ugh.... ) FB market place, the local yardsale type websites.

Luckily my Vette isn't worth nearly that, so I won't feel bad about a poverty tool box in my garage ;)

I paid $350 for my Mac tool cart and $500 for my Matco, although they're smaller than what you want. I also paid $450 for my 40" Snap On but I replaced some drawer slides, etc that cost me another $200 IIRC.

Reason I mention the tool carts is they're usually pretty cheap and you could get 2 of them. Easier to roll around if you want to move them. My large Snap On box was like 600# empty, kind of a PITA if I wanted to move it closer to where I was working.
