So this gun I've been putting together is kind of a strange build.

I actually built the gun around the scope.

I bought a p223 3x9-40 w/ BDC 600 reticle. That's the one with marks for each 100 yards point of impact with 55gr 223 up to 600 yards. Additionally it has nice target turrets for the price. The only problem is that the BDC is calibrated for 3240fps. That's only what you'd generslly see from a 20" barrel, and even then it would need to be a pretty decently charged round, not steel or reloads or cheap fmj.

Well I tried it on a 16" barrel and it was waaay off, even more so with GA arms reloads(not that I bother with that ammo anymore). Well I didn't really feel like selling the scope since I had an extra lower, so I just found a bull barrel upper and had it threaded 5/8x24 so I could attach my Specwar QD mounts, but still leave as much meat on the barrel as possible.

I also removed that atrocious tube/barrel nut that was on it and hand tight pressure.

So here is where she's at now. I still need to pick a stock and handguard (15"). I'm thinking a Magpul PRS or Luth AR MBA-1 for the stock. Anyone have opinions on these or another stock that would be fitting?

I've really been hoping to find a 15" samson evolution keymod at a good price as well. Keymod just so I don't have to worry about the back side of the mounting for the pic rails on other foreends contact the gas block at the tip of the handguard. Anyone else have any handguard ideas? I prefer a factory barrel nut, since I already have one, but obviously others are worth looking at if yall have a recommendation

For a coyote rig I've always preferred a composite and smooth fore end to aluminum. It doesn't get as hot or cold, usually there won't be a requirement to mount too much gear to the fore end (maybe a light if you're hunting at night). It makes a bit less noise going through brush.
It's probably not exactly what you're going for, but I always like to keep my hunting rifles as simple as possible, especially one that is going to be packed around a bit calling from stand to stand.

This is going to be a bipod-ed rifle and I don't really hunt coyotes from a stand or stalk them, I sit on the porch and drop 200-400 yard shots on them.

That and I want this to double for semi-long range with 223.

Ah, ok. You should check out the AR set ups for prairie dogs. That's really more in line with the type of shooting you'll be doing. You might get some good ideas from some of those folks.

I can't help out much there either as I mainly shot a Tikka heavy barreled 22-250.

Hey, look into the SLR Lite rail. I built this up for a guy who was competing in a predator tournament a couple months ago. The rail is nice and light, which helps with such a heavy barrel. The owner spec'd out a 16.5" rail, which turned out really nice on the 18" barrel.
