Civilian PEQ15 that's not stupid expensive.

A buddy is trying to recreate his M4 from the army. He's got everything the way he likes it except for a PEQ15, and he isn't buying a real one for the price of a car.

Does anyone make something similar or even a good laser for an AR?

He did say he'd rather not have one then have some air soft crap.

You know you have to have a off set zero on those things... And it changes depending on where you mount your laser on you upper, it's really kind of a pain in the ass... But if he wants help zeroing it, I can try to get him squared away.

It's a laser dot, (both one you can see, and in IR mode one you cannot see, with the naked eye.) And a IR "flashlight" BTW, IR means Infrared, it can both be a single aiming point and a wide flashlight, that is what the PEQ-15 is used for.

Unless he has Night Vision Goggles, its not worth it... But they do work well, it's why the US Army "rules the night."

He doesn't have NV that I'm aware of, I'll be pissed if he does and he hasn't let me play with them though.

Yes the IR is bad ass... And about $3,500 , but if he dosnt have a ANPVS-14, no reason to get a PEQ-15 IMHO.

I just found that pic on the net to kinda' show what the peq-15 can do. But, yeah its pretty useless w/o NVG's... or a ANPVS-14 on your rifle

If I ever win the lottery I'll buy the full set up and put a kill switch by the bed for the house power and automatic blinds.

I'd feel real bad for a home intruder with that set up.

I for one think it would be a lotta fun to watch former SF personnel shoot people who wanted to rob/murder me.

It would be a lot more fun IMO than having to do it myself.

but then you have to pay them and house them. What happens if I'm trying to rub one out when the break in happens. I don't want some SF guy seeing me at half chub.

I'd rather put on a helmet with NV and go shoot the bad guy myself with a half chub.
