    Family of Nines

Since I've recently declared mayself a nines guy, I thought I'd share my family of them. The patriarch is my S&W model 669. It seems I don't know where to find detail on this early 1980's offerring. All I know is I picked it up about 1983. I've ridden it hard and put it proverbally away wet...

    Shield 40 or XDs

I haven't tried the SR40c... others, yes. Any gun I may handle will probably pass the Larry Potterfield Concealled Carry test and allow anyone to put quick consecutive shots on target. That doesn't mean I can perform that well with the + recoil under adverse conditions. If I were only...

    Interesting scenario today..

+another on using the mobility of a car. Although the mind doesn't always click into defennsive mode on little provocation, moving the car 30 or so parking spaces changes everything into a game of chess. If the kid had any expectation of scoring anything... an obvious move would have put him...

    LC9 or CW9 ???

That LC9 trigger pull is a sticking point. A lot of dry firiing made mine much better, but expectations exceed what it is. If I didn't like the rest of the gun so much, I wouldn't have put the effort in and just bought a Kahr.

    Shield 40 or XDs

your luck may be better than mine. I played extensively with the Shield 9, but haven't seen a hint of an XDS or Shield 40. I liked the trigger and sights on the Shield and I see no reason that they would be less on the 40 than the 9. I've been toying with getting one or the other as well...

Crossbreed founder Mark Craighead has passed away

Take pause. This is a shock. Condolences to his family. He will also be missed in the community at large.

    Thinking about an AR

Fred, you beat me to the Stag Arms twist. I picked up a model 2 after running the gamut of manufacturers and have had no reason to look back. I've had it out on the farm once and was impressed with how it ran and its iron sight accuracy out to about 150 yards on 8" steel plates. I went with...

My wife would like a shotgun!

It looks so placid sitting there... just waiting to rock the range!

    SR40c vs SR9c

Just take her out with you. My wife loves to shoot ours. Yeah, those mag springs are stiff and a Maglula is an excellent option. After a couple thousand rounds, I still have trouble getting the recoil spring back in place after cleaning. There's nothing sloppy about this gun.

    Here kitty kitty kitty

We found a family of them living under our front deck. It's lovely sitting there with a cold drink and see them parade out about sunset. We did a mothball application and they were gone the next day. We have a good supply of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dish detergent to bathe the dog...

    Dick's SG ammo

The one nearest to us closed a while ago. I'd visit and couldn't find a way to spend much money with them. They did have a knowledgable guy at the gun counter and their focus was definitely on shotguns. You could get 12 guage target loads for $4 or so per box. I guess that's about as...

    Another theater shooting...

It used to be very common in the areas we frequent to see "No Weapons" signs. I've noticed them slowly - actually almost overnight - disappear as the culture becomes more comfortable with responsible citizen carry and less belief that LEO is a motivating deterrent against crime. In this...

My wife would like a shotgun!

Enjoying this story as it unfolds. #4 was what my LGS pulled off the shelf when I bought my shotty. I did no analysis on the right load, but it must be right in the minds of those who can choose from anything.

Deputies shoot and kill wrong man

There has to be more to the story. Hunting a dangerous felon... knocking on a potential suspects door at 1:30 AM... with guns seemingly at the ready. Wicked Bizarre. If those circumstances could be considered bizarre, the same might occur at my place. No body has ever knocked on my door at...

    Here we set

Our carry guns are all at optimum. Our gun handling skills are just slightly better than awesome. We've found it easy to put ten rounds through the same hole in cardboard. Lost interest in the Beretta Nano, etc. Couldn't ask more from our ranges and the price of ammo is exactly where we want...

    Another theater shooting...

Probably no holster and additional "stuff" in his pocket. He should not breed.
