I always think of them as gamer guns for 3-gun and the such. Would definitely like to hear others opinions. I only shoot 9mm in pistols by the way ... not to start a caliber war. Does porting have any benefit for a lighter recoiling weapon like a 9mm other than muzzle climb mitigation?

I have two streamlight polytacs on two different setups. For my uses, they work well. No need for remote switches, wires, etc. - to me that's just more things that can go wrong, get in your way at the worst time. I just mount them 11 or 2 o' clock where I can reach them with my support hand...
