Ported pistols...

How do you guys feel about carrying ported pistols? I know it wasn't uncommon for a man to carry a ported revolver back in the day but doing the same to a semi-auto pistol now seems to be met with derision.

Why?

A ported semi-auto with defensive ammo doesn't have much of a flash even at night compared to the average revolver. During the day flash is a non-issue.

I noticed a difference even in 9mm when shooting heavy +p loads....mainly in the speed of follow up shots

i dont notice much difference from ported guns to non ported unless its a larger caliber

and i rock a 9mm and .25 so......

I like porting on .375 Linebaughs, and bigger..but not much else.

I shot a glock 19c the other day...didn't seem any different except, it was loud as hell.

I always think of them as gamer guns for 3-gun and the such.

Would definitely like to hear others opinions. I only shoot 9mm in pistols by the way ... not to start a caliber war.

Does porting have any benefit for a lighter recoiling weapon like a 9mm other than muzzle climb mitigation?

I think that's the only real benefit in a pistol of any caliber...though I guess it would depend on the orientation of the ports.
