Thinking ahead, I'm trying to get my guns/gear up to banic proof levels.

What's a minimum to weather a potentially very long storm?

1. Rifle mags?

2. Pistol Mags?

3. Rimfire Ammo?

4. Centerfire ammo?

1. 50 ish per platform
2. 30 ish per gun
3. 20,000 rounds
4. 10k per chambering

Sensible?

But I do need a set of plates. I have everything else covered. As a matter of fact, the only guns I enjoy now are WWII rifles, I'll probably never shoot.

Wait, there's one rifle I do want that I don't have,and it's a M76 in 8mm ...I'd trade my RRA LAR 8 for one. I'm sick of AR platform guns. And trade my G17 for a G19x.

Seems like a reasonable goal.

Though I would look at bumping the centerfire ammo up to closer to 20k though. If the next person in seat is bad you could be looking at serious issues with gun related activities. 10k rounds could go quickly.

Side note is the 10k rounds just for training or does that include defense rounds?

I Can never have enough 9mm, 556, or 7.62x39.

I've got thousands of rounds of 30-30, 30-06, 270, 35rem, 38 special 357 and 44mag. I doubt I'll shoot all those in my lifetime.

Have a good stash of mags.

I don't sweat "banics" Just buy what I can when I can.

I'm gonna up my 22lr game!

That was the most annoying, not being able to find it!

Can never have too much .22lr ammo... I'm sitting on a hefty number of rounds, but still think that I could use more.

And thinking about it, I'd probably be well off to get a 2nd AK74...

Damn you @Laufen... more shit I need to feel secure...

I'm with you. I'm gonna start going 22 crazy. Anytime I see CCI Standard go on sale and I have a few extra bucks, I'm buying. Specially since the Oculus should be back soon.

I have a mountain of .22lr but I'm going to keep adding to it over the next 1.5 years. Same with 9mm and 5.56.

A pistol without ammo is a paperweight. A rifle without ammo is a club and a spear at best with a bayonet.

I'm good on the main calibers but I'll never have that kind of stockage on 6.5 CM. Shoot, I've had the gun and still haven't shot it and probably won't more than 2-3 times/year at the rate I'm going.

Hopefully this doesnt seem like a thread takover, it's not meant to be...but it seems relevant to answering the OP. Early, in my general prepping, I thought it would be important to have at least one decent firearm in each relatively popular caliber and a small store of ammo for it...thought being: I'd have a wide range of ammo to choose from if there was a run on ammo (like we've seen previously) and wouldn't be stuck in a position of having a gun and nothing to shoot. Ive thought about selling off the ones I rarely use, but then I remember seeing .40sw, .327 mag, and 30-30 on the shelves when .22lr, 9mm, .45, and 5.56 were nearly impossible to find. What do you guys think: better to only have a few select calibers and collect ammo, or a variety of calibers, smaller ammo collection, but have the chance to find ammo when others can't?

Buy the guns and calibers you like, then buy a lifetimes supply of ammo so you don't have to worry about what's available at Walmart.
