Ithaca frame with a Colt slide. Once these hit unit arms rooms parts were swapped to keep them functional.
Frame has FJA: Frank J. Atwood. Found on Remington Rand and Ithaca 1911A1s stamped after finish also faint Ordnance wheel
Pistol frame dates 1943 first run of Ithaca. U.S. property marked frame. Sharp, shiny bore. Nice grips.
An absolutely beautiful example of a CMP Field grade 1911A1 just as it came from the Civilian Marksmanship Program. This pistol was stored away by the Government until it was released to the CMP for sale to the public.
This IS NOT a rattle trap!! The frame to side fit is VERY tight.
The firearm comes with the CMP marked hard case, one USGI magazine, and USGI technical manual.
During the war, about 1.9 million units were procured by the U.S. Government for all forces, production being undertaken by several manufacturers, including Remington Rand (900,000 produced), Colt (400,000), Ithaca Gun Company (400,000), Union Switch & Signal (50,000), and Singer (500).
