I currently have a Mercury 60 HP motor on my boat and it runs great just like a brand new one. Less than 75 hours on the motor so it should. It will do 35 mph on the water which is plenty fast enough. But here recently I have been considering getting a Yamaha outboard in the 115 range. Why? Because I love yamaha anything. They are simply reliable. So a bigger motor and going from a 2cycle to a 4 stroke. Thing is I can't seem to make up my mind. Do I really want to spend 10k on a new motor on a boat that is 12 years old? Granted my boat looks like it is brand new. The guy I got it from only put 50 hours on it and I have only put 25. What would it do to the value of the boat? New 2015 Yamaha 10k dollar engine and a 2003 boat. What would it be worth?

Maybe I should just use the 60 until it quits? What would you do?

This is the boat. It looks brand new.

Honestly, it would be cheaper to sell your boat and buy one with a larger motor.
Only if I bought used. Then if I did I might find myself getting into someone elses problem boat. I don't trust people not to sell me a lemon under the guise of something else. I don't know a whole lot about boats but the one I have is a good one. Knock on wood.

This is the type of decision you should make in the winter. My $.02, keep the Tracker.

Yeah I think I am starting to agree with you guys on this.
35 mph will get you anywhere you want to be...want to get there faster? Leave earlier.

It's a bass boat, you're not planning on taking any kids skiing or tubing... no need for a larger engine.

We had and old bomber fish-n-ski with a 115 Yamaha on it. That was one of the best running outboards I've ever experienced. If you do decide to swap it out, you can't go wrong with that choice.

And despite what everyone else here seems to think, 30mph is donkey balls slow for a bass boat.

How many more fish can you catch with a 50mph bass boat?
