The perfect ammo for suppressor use?

I've seen fragments from the same bullet catch my shirt and cut the cheek on the guy next to me. IDPA style targets on hangers at 75 yards. The theory was it was swinging back when my .223 round hit. We stopped shooting steel per instructor orders at the point.

It prevented his barrel, ports, and optic of the pistol from getting covered in lead. I think he said he was seeing slightly higher velocities too.

Really really. Ive heard horror stories but never experienced it. Hell just to stay consistent with the data presented, 9mm specifically, I have probably shot some 8-10K rounds from glocks and sbr ar9 and have never so much and seen or head a piece of anything fly back my way.

Btw, that sounds terrible lol... Did it not crush your testical? Or was it slowed enough by then to just hurt you. 45 is slow as molasses anyway, so im assuming the latter.

Ive been hit a number of times. One was a decent hit too, left a welt that was barely bleeding. It was a combination of poor stage design and poor judgement on my part

Weird, I'd think the added diameter of the projectile would slow the velocity by grabbing more of the rifling and thus creating more friction.

Sweet- if it works that much better than copper (as I assume costs less to process/purchase/apply/etc) I think that they have a real winner here.

I didnt get the point of that data. Never have I ever had a fragment of anything hit me from thousands and thousands of rounds of 22/380/9/40/45/223/556/762x39/308 in any indoor or outdoor range with any type of backstop, including steel plates outdoors within the 15 yards they referenced. Hell a lot closer than that at times with pistol ammo...

Agreed. That's one of the reasons I went to the copper plated bullets- no exposed lead. Although it's just a copper plate, which is extremely thin.

And the plated bullets are cheaper- that was the main motivator.
