I predict you'll switch to .357sig next, but not before a thread called 40s&w or bust.
If .357 sig gained in popularity maybe.
.40 is and always shall be dumb. All the bad qualities of 9mm and .45 and no tangible benefit.
9mm is still an excellent choice.
High power high quality Italian and German 9mm ammo is still available cheap if you know where to look.
Exactly my point, you weren't advocating a switch to 556 in your 556 or bust thread either.

Well that's the thing. It is hard for me to belive that 9mm is as effective as an equivalent .45. I found some good test data that utilized standard pressure .45 and 9mm Golden Sabre and showed negligible difference in either. The only sure way to stop an assailant is a direct hit to the brain or shattering and physically incapacitating an attacker. 9mm and .45 will do both.
Though I will admit my dick feels MUCH smaller carrying 9mm.
And you get twice as many tries with 9mm. Most stops from any handgun are psychological, not physical, so you should carry whatever you can deploy the quickest, with the most accuracy.
That's what trips me up. Thus far in my experience with handguns given the same handguns, one in 9 and one in 45, I tend to shoot better with the .45. I have been carrying the wife's VP9 alot lately since she let her GWL lapse and can't seem to find the time to go renew it (many an argument has ensued)....it is SO much more comfortable to carry than my USP. I feel more confident with the USP45 but I find myself grabbing the VP9 every day.
I've never shot the same model in 9 and 45. 99% of my experience with .45 is in higher end 1911s. They're better than my Glock or XDs, but I still carry 9 and don't worry about it. It's cheaper and it's good enough. If we really cared about stopping power, we'd carry a hot 10mm or magnum revolver.
Wait until you shoot my PPQ 9 & 45 side by side.
I carried a G20 as my EDC for a while until I consolidated all my pistol calibers to .45. I miss having a 10mm hand cannon, but I can't get @Hayata to sell me his for some reasonI think the lack of 10mm love for cc is due to the stunningly poor choices on the market. Many don't trust 1911s as carry guns and most of the 10mm options available are 1911s. Glock 20s are bricks. Glock 30s are laughably unmanageable....Witness 10mm aren't confidence inspiring since they seem to enjoy cracking slides...
Of course that all hinges on the shooter being able to handle REAL 10mm loads....
I liked my HK45. It was more comfortable to carry than the USP45...but held 2 less rounds.
