Well it's the 2nd time at the outdoor range with my new Viking AR-500 steel target. I had to wait several months on back order. it's in 4 pieces, sets up in 60 seconds. It's the first time shooting steel. I think I'm becoming addicted. It comes with one 8" and one 10" steel. I purchased it on MidwayUSA.com.

I saw a 8 inch steel plate at Walmart up here the other day, I thought about buying it just for the hell of it, but I have very little room to store stuff at the moment. I might be able to store a target and target stand in a manitance bay, but then I have to worry about someone stealing it.

Love the instant feedback of steel. I probably own close to 50 pieces of rifle-grade steel nowadays, but need it for my school.

I have some steel I got at the NRA show that hangs on T post, took it out the other weekend and am hooked on shooting steel!

I find that ringing steel is much more fun... I obsess over groups on paper, whereas I only worry about a hit/no hit on steel.

Something about seeing the plate swing, and a couple secs later, hearing the longish very addictive.

Saw that BP is now carrying AR500 steel now as well. Fairly priced.

Same here. Weird huh? I like the instant feedback of the ringing steel target.

I use this guy in Northwest Ohio for all my steel target needs. He's a great guy and these targets are fantastic. I own several and use them for my concealed carry classes. You can turn the base sideways and use paper targets as well. Here's his ad:
