Serious AK Magazine Collector ???

Anyone here serious about their AK magazine collecting?

I was advised on some that I was looking to trade, that I may need to reassess my value on the mags. I was under the impression that the were Korean, but as I am finding the AK mag has so many variants to them. I am now under the impression that they are Chinese. However, I am unsure if they are what is referred to as "Chugo" mags.




There is no China stamp on the base plate.


They also don't have any stampings on the follower.
I was under the impression that these were purchased possibly in the 70's, but I'm thinking that they maybe later than that.

Anyone got more light to shed? I have been browsing all day trying to learn more, but not finding answers more towards the Chinese mags.

glocktalk.com is where I made the discovery of all the differences! Got on the AK Forum and found that there is about 6 different Chinese before you get into the Chugo mags!

Most chinese mags have the auto sear clearance cut, some others, including all PolyTechs, do not.

From what I have found so far, the easy iditifiers are the backbone and the follower. Chinese backbone doesn't go all the way up to the feed mount and the Chinese followers are squared off "stepped".

From what I was reading, these came with a made in China sticker. In wrapper with sticker about $50. $40-45 grear condition with sticker. $25 good condition. So I would say in the condition these are $35.
