I'm repeating myself, but the thing I've always disliked about the S&W 1911s is the safety billboard on the frame. It ruins the looks of an otherwise nice gun.

I dont know why, but I kinda like it. It's my first 1911, but I plan to buy many more so I'll have a more informed opinion in the future.
