I’m currently using a .22 pellet rifle for that job, including the occasional groundhog/whistle pig/woodchuck, but accuracy is shit on those things unless you hit the lottery and find its preferred pellet.

I bet if you ran .22short in yours it would sound quieter than snapping your fingers.

I run CCI Quiet .22 LR in mine and a pellet gun sounds louder than it does.

I just started breaking in a new CZ 457 varmint 16.5 inch barrel ,Alien 419 scope rail.Dobbs Defense can. It is shocking accurate right out of the box but getting better all the time.
