I know, I know!

Honestly, one of the most fun uppers I've ever shot is one that a buddy of mine owns and is set up just like that. 22lr, suppressed with a 22 bolt conversion.

What would you do? Cut the rail down to 4"??
I was mostly being a smart ass, because I'm generally not a fan of recessed builds due to the limitations they present. They do make short rails, but I wouldn't go switching stuff for the heck of it. If the Octane mount gets stuck, just pull the rail off.

I like recess builds in pistol calibers and Rimfire. I'm still not sure about rifle calibers due to the heat

Oh that would SUCK!
I can prevent it by tightening the hell out of the end caps, but then it's more of a pain in the ass to disassemble the suppressor. Normally I can just slide a small nylon pry bar through the rail and nudge it loose.

I just use a little rockset on my cans in this instance. It's water soluable which makes it easy peasey to get off.
