.308 has a trajectory like a rainbow at distance. That being said, how many people in the Eastern part of the US shoot over 400 yards? I am a 7mm-08, and 30--06 guy. I do own a .308, but am not emotionally attached. What is the rifle's intended purpose?

While the 6.5 does have it's place, it is generally only preferable to .308 at 1,000 yards and over. Well, probably about 800 and over.

It's tough to keep .308 supersonic over about 800 yards. Once a projectile crosses the super/sub sonic line it becomes unstable because the shock wave catches up to the bullet.

If you are shooting subsoinc or suppressed most of the time, don't bother the the 6.5 Creedmore.

Depends on your application. People before me have already pointed out the ballistic and cost differences. Just also look at availability over the next 10 years if you do not roll your own!

It's a target rifle, not a hunting rifle.

So unless you plan to shoot in 308 only matches or just love 308, then the 6.5 will serve you better.

Me? I just love 308

I'm a .308 guy. btw, let me know if you find a deal on the Ruger Precision.

If I didn't have so much .308 brass, I would go 30-06 for my .30 cal needs. Everything else would be 7mm or .22 cal.
