Well, to be fair the whole pistol brace thug was already skirting an established law. The fact they allowed them was more surprising to me then them changing their view on shouldering it.
Then if the issue, by ATF's own ruling is not the brace (a stock, come on) but the intent, whether or not you shoulder it, then ATF should just allow stocks to be put on "pistols" and just tell you not to shoulder it.

It's beyond stupid, the whole NFA should be revoked

Have you seen the APG 10/22 Takedown SBR? I'd love to have one of those. I think it would be worth the tax stamp. The barrel actually fits in a compartment in the side folder.

I have a AR with a brace. It only has 2 purposes..
1) to be shot on private land.
2) to be concealed in a backpack for emergencies.

If #2 ever happens, I could care less about the ATF and shouldering it.

I would just get @KGmade in on buiding a SBR with either integral suppressed or welded can on it so there's a one time stamp and done.

Another thing I have thought about doing is getting a charger takedown with the black synthetic stock, add a small section of rail for an AFG, some manner of red dot, then a sling attachment point at the very back with a single point sling kinda like a poverty thread 22 mp5k you always see the motorcycle bad guys carry in movies.

In case y'all can't tell, I have a thing for takedowns. If only Ruger would make a American Rimfire Takedown..... I might email them about that.....

It would be shot in private on the farm 99% of the time. I agree with you and wouldn't do it with any other gun. Just thinking that I don't want to spend the $200 for a 10/22 SBR.

Best case scenario is that you Spend about $100 on the brace. You then need to figure our how to attached which may cost more money. Long story short, you are already paying a fair amount of that dreaded $200, and possibly more then that $200, to do a shitty version that is not fully legal and had fewer benefits. If you already have a can, another SBR, or whathaveyou, you are already in the system. Do it right and SBR it. Just my .02.
