Question(s) about the history of the M16

Can someone point me to a location where I can get the actual specifications for the various models of the M16? Because of the requirements for my research paper, it can't just come from someone's blog, it has to be a reliable source. Basically, I am trying to determine which ones were full auto and which ones were not. From what I have read, only certain models were issued full auto.

They were either selectable FA or 3 round burst. None were semi auto only unless you include the AR-15.
