I have a Taurus 1911. Has the alloy frame. It's full size and weighs as much as the all steel 3.5" RIA.

It's probably one of the best values out there. They come standard with front strap checkering and the trigger is pretty decent.

I can't remember what the baseplate looks like, but they don't feel as cheap as some of the Hexmags and Troy battlemags.
If you want cheap feeling, I think Thermold takes the cake. Had mixed luck with those.
