Thanks! I watched a gazillion YT videos and settled on this plan from a carpenter that built something similar for an Airstream. I adapted the plan for our E350, and it works like a champ! The end towards the driver's seat will hold auxiliary batteries/charging components, which leaves over 2/3s of the rest for storage.
I have a friend who has been converting a school bus into an RV for the last year or so. We pulled all the seats and windows out and raised the roof 18". Added uni-strut to all the columns and reinstalled sheet metal over the sides. It was a fucking gigantic pain in the ass and he's still not done.
We started just past the door up front and used the rear window of a minivan for the height transition. It turned out pretty damn clean if I say so myself, but man what a pain in the nutz fo reelz.
I'm no sheet metal mechanic by any means.
