The weight doesn’t bother me nor does cost of ammo. It just isn’t pleasant to shoot. Meanwhile, every time I’ve shot AK’s they’re quite pleasant.

Have you considered an FAL or PTR? I love the PTR. Mags are kinda pricey at 3.99 a pop now as compared to 1.50 not to long ago

At 200 yards x39 is pretty much the perfect caliber
RPK carbine cuts 7" off of the barrel
Side rail is great for optics
And it's a soft shooter to boot
