Just to clarify a bit as I've received some msgs, no one has been permanently banned lately (other than spammers). When issues arise, much is taken into consideration, such as past history, intent, context, etc. In most cases contact is made to ask them to tone it down, if it continues to be an issue, then other steps are taken.

Having a difference of opinion and getting into heated exchanges is one thing, but demonstrating a constant trend of trolling &/or intentionally flat out being a dick over an extended period of time is entirely different.

If someone returns from a hiatus with the same trends reemerging, then more permanent actions will occurr.

Sure, there'll be some that just don't see eye-to-eye on certain topics, but @dougiemac and the other site support folks have done an excellent job keeping things laid back and enjoyable for most with keeping to the basic philosophy of "Don't be a dick"
