Only some models of Henry's lever 30-30 & 45-70 have loading gates. Everything else is tube load. It sucks & it's stupid IMO.
You could go with the Mossberg MVP - uses AR-type mags, either in .308 or 5.56
I got the .308 LR with 20" fluted barrel, and bought a Primary Arms 4-14x44 scope. Good out to 600 yards, maybe 800. Total was right at $1K
