I do not think the removable bayonet was a military configuration. The pin rather than the screw was used latter. The same bayonet will work but is not removable with the pin, unless the pin is drilled/pressed out. The screw is not really made to be removed either as a service item, so in effect they are the same but the pin requires less time machining, cost, etc. You do not see many bayonets mounted with the pin. I have seen a lot that use the pin, but it looks like the bayonet was never installed. A factory installed pinned bayonet is an interesting variation on the SKS. Below are two factory pinned bayonets that have been removed. The removed head used to look like the factory head, but smaller. It has been drilled to remove the shop head.
