Walked into a new subdivision and someone had walked through all the houses and cut the wires off at the top of the breaker boxes, right flush with the feed-through.

Any chance you can grab em with your linesmans and get some slack? How were they able to pull wires and not be licensed?
No you can’t stretch wires
ive seen that before.....when electricians weren’t getting paid on time. It’s a huge F YOU have fun re-wiring move we all know

Best answer is to lift the panel (if most circuits enter from the top) and use a large j-box or wire gutter for extending the circuits coming into the panel from below. Or vice-versa

I know you ain't got a wire stretcher in your tool bag, but sometimes your get lucky and there's some slack inside the wall.

That's like sending someone out to the tool crib to grab a roll of "flight line..."

Haha facts. Was it just at the panel or did they cut them at all the boxes? Like above every outlet?

most the time during new construction they staple them in the wall to code or bore holes rarely do you get extra if you do it’s from old work being fished and not being able to staple so some slack is left or you’ll get an inch or two here or there from staples stuff

can cut the box out, pop the staples with a long flat head and gain 1-3” sometimes if needed on remodel stuff

They just cut them flush with the main, they didn't go to all the boxes. I forgot about the staples on new construction, dang.

Yep staple within 6” of a box and every 4 feet on straight runs but we usually bore through the studs (which counts as a staple) because the hole holds the wire, but when trying to stretch more still a hole acts the same way-ish.
At least it was just panel !

sometimes they would drop the wires in the wall through the top plate, then they would use our existing holes and snake them down the length of the wall alongside our plumbing vents, they wouldn't use staples then, they'd just pull the wires tight.

I've sent new airman outside with a trash bag to get an air sample for test cell.
