Yeah! I always chuckle a little bit when people think M193 is trash because it's FMJ and the FBEye shoots lead nose .233 out of there 10.5 shorties, so it must be the way.

Wounding mechanism with 5.56 and .233 is all about velocity, which produces wicked cavitation wounding, and as long as the velocity stays above 2700 fps good fragmentation in a 55 grain FMJ bullet, which means no over penetration worries.. The problem with 10.5 barrels is the velocity is below the fragmentation threshold at the muzzle = still good wounding but no fragmentation and over penetration.. So the Full Blown Idiots had to figure out a way to mitigate that, So they came up with the lead nose bullet in an attempt to limit penetration. That bullet still does 17+ inches through ballistic gelatin (about 4 inched deeper than FMJ at 2700+ fps) with no fragmentation. So it's the best choice for the shorties but it's inferior in every way to a M193 out of a 14.5 inch barrel. Doesn't stop the horrible advice all over the internet to shoot lead nose ammo out of your 16 inch carbine for home defense because of Muh FBEye though.

Read this twice, but still unsure - What round SHOULD I use in my 10.5" barrel 5.56?

Edit: Nevermind, I see the question has been asked and answered.
