If I understand correctly, the problem here is SIG USA (SIGARMS), not the original SIG over in Switzerland.
To tell you the truth I’m not sure what division of Sig develops what, like where the MCX or MPX or Virtus or Rattler were born. I know for a fact all of those problems have left a lot of people very disappointed in the long run

6.8 makes a bigger hole

Just...barely.

Funny thing - .223 is about 1/4", 2/8" or 4/16"
6.8 is maybe 5/16"
.38 and 9mm is about 3/8", or 6/16"
.45 is a little less than 1/2", a bit more than 7/16"

So what's all the fuss about a slightly bigger hole??

Joules.

Bigger bullet transfers more inertia on impact

I know, but the issue raised was the diameter of the entry hole...Personally, I don't want to get hit with any of them, especially my favorite personal defense caliber - the Supersonic Telephone Pole.

I agree waste of money.
my argument was infantry has proven time and time again modern engagements happen within that 300m bubble. Sure maybe we stretch that one day, but with the current environment we exist in and the modern day threat of insurgency im
Not seeing the use for infantry to engage out to 800m on a basis often enough to warrant a full caliber shift within the armed forces.
