You nailed it.

I flew A’s, C’s and A+ (A with the C engine) always wanted to fly the D
But ended up in the 64A for a while. While the 64 would fly circles around the 58D, it shouldn’t be to a scout mission.
I remember when the Ds first got fielded and worked for DVARTY with a pilot in the left seat and a FA 2nd LT in the right.
First Army Helo with a Glass Cockpit, enough power to fly fully loaded and gassed up......so Bad Ass for it's time and STILL a viable aircraft today. It's a shame it's gone from the inventory and sold off to foreign lands or boned in the boneyard.

Granted I know nothing about helicopters but if you look at airplanes, the Military has a history of doing the same thing, or trying to anyways. The C-130 was supposed to be phased out long ago, but now they're still making J-Models. They wanted to get rid of the A-10. The SR-71 was supposed to replace the U-2...the Blackbird is done but the Dragonlady is still flying...

I was wondering what you were really asking?

"Hey, do you make more than $XXX:"

"Ummm, no"

"Cool, here's your check"

Honor system

For example there's tons of ppl that can have $10-$20K difference from one year to the next just bc of overtime. So when you say $75K cutoff...base salary or W2 from a certain year? I lost $10K take home pay when I made my lateral move a few years ago bc there is limited overtime where I work at and they don't draft like the flightline does. I very much like my weekends off. They can keep the money.
