UPS is fucking with me. Shows they picked up my Galil in Augusta today and it will be delivered today.

Partly it came about after a conversation I had with a WWII veteran here in Monroe whose grandson was graduating from high school & told him all he knew about George Washington was that he was the 1st president & owned slaves. I was thinking how sad it is that the huge, sprawling, weird & rambunctious story of America wasn't really being told & wished I could make some small effort to change that. At the same time, discussion was going on here about how to grow membership. I don't have any money to contribute for advertising, but I thought this might catch a few people's attention & draw a little traffic. And the history nerd in me really enjoys it. And the guys here have been kind enough to pretend they read it.
