I think I'm going to burn my yard. Its garbage Bermuda grass, and the previous owners dont appear to have ever bagged or blown the yard. I can rake in one spot for a solid 5 minutes before I get to the ground through all the dead grass clippings

Yep. Burn that thatch. Probably too wet to do now, but sooner the better.

I'm nervous about doing it...but my neighbor does it and it seems to burn fairly slowly. Guess I just need my hose and fire extinguisher ready

If it’s that thick it will burn/smolder slow. Just be ready. 1/2” or less thatch is recommended for Bermuda. Once you burn off and fertilize, should have a nice yard. And next year will be better.
