So Shemp, ya gonna order from CMP? That's the cheapest place to get them.

The sad thing is that if you go to their store in AL to pick out the one you want, you pay that 10% AL sales tax on top of the price.

In the good ol' days they would ship it to your house and not charge you sales tax if you were out of state resident.

It's totally worth it to go pick out your own. I was luck enough to have a buddy loan me his gage so I could check each one....and I checked each one, lol. My family is patient.

That looks like one of the older ones (pre-PTR involvement with the guns) Might be a crap shoot?

Yep, but my favorite AKs are Galil ACE and Vepr, neitehr one has a metal buttplate.
And recoil of 7.62x39 is a whole lot less than 7.62x63.

Do not have a Mosin. I keep only 3 rifle calibers stocked up, and x54R ain't one of them.

I think you might have dodged a bullet. I also passed on it after seeing it within the first few minutes of it being posted and thinking about it. The older c308 have a very spotty reputation and him saying the charging handle is difficult is kind of a red flag.

I can shoot it. But I am used to burning 300 rounds every time I shoot. Cannot do it with a Garand in 1 day., 60-80 max.

@Hayata 10K per caliber is not just a made up number for KK. It is my aspirational goal. Keeping it to 3 rifle calibers, makes it possible money and space wise. And only 2 pistol calibers, not counting 22LR.
That's why I never got into AK74. Already was vested heavily im x39.

I have a pathetically low supply of most calibers. I'm doing pretty well with 7.62x39, .45ACP, 7.62x54r, 8x56r, .303, and probably 8x57JS. Honestly I don't even know how much I have in C&R calibers since its been so long since I've really messed around with them, so I figure I'm good. Even if there is a panic, those calibers won't be affected.
