So....
First of all you need to know the PKK (Kurdish Workers Party) is considered a Terrorist organization and that label was given to them due to the leadership known as the Gang of 5. They killed civilians, extorted the local population, used VBIEDS and all sorts of vile shit.
Almost 30 years ago Abdullah Ocelan (Apo) staged a coup and overthrew the Gang of 5. Changed the way things were allowed to happen and completely stopped all that bullshit. Unfortunately he was captured by CIA and Mossad and turned over to Turkish aauthorities where he has been held in solitary confinement since. He is literally the only person incarcerated in the prison where he is being held.
When the PYD (Democratic Socialist Party of Kurdistan) formed a military wing (YPG) much of the PKK filled the initial ranks of the newly formed militia (2014) and influence the ideology of the party.
