This is the strangest story I've read this week. Apparently, in China, if you injure a pedestrian you are responsible for a lifetime of related medical bills. But, if you kill them, you are only responsible for a one time fee. This has led to cases where pedestrians are ran over multiple times, just to make sure they don't survive.

It's this related to screwed up incentives? Would this happen here if we had the same laws?
