I ditched the A1 rear aperture for an A2 and never looked back. I like the A2 aperture much more than the the A1 for iron sight work.
No difference in zeroing? Still use a non-f marked FSB or change any posts etc? I thought there was some nuance with swapping the aperture that made me shy away from it but I can’t remember
Because A1 rear sight apertures are wack lol. Too much thinking involved in Long range aperture or zero aperture. I learned it all awhile ago and figured I’d study up again when it’s built and i got to zero but I remember it was stupid
The A1 pistol grip is tits too I don’t know why they ever went away from that
The FSB is F marked. Zeroed with no issues in front sight post elevation. It's slightly down in the recess, about 4 turns past flush. That's actually about normal for me on a zeroed M4 iron sight.

And the aperture hole is the same size for both zero and "L" long range...........Very Small.

I don't think they're really that hard to find. They're hard to find at a price you're willing to pay.
A guy has been at the last couple of shows with a Chinese stock set with the pistol grip for $250.
