I had a friend like that in Anchorage. Single guy. Upstairs he had 1 bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/living room. Maybe 300 square feet. Downstairs and on the side was his 2000 sq feet garage. Tall enough to park his ocean going boat for winter and 3 cars. Again, he was single.
