It’s not paper you stubborn child, these are actual cats purchased and resold directly to a smelter

You buy CC's from dirty ass thieves and sell them for profit while never seeing any of them. You are part of the problem.

No, I buy them direct from salvage yards, I have contracts. Learn something for a change

Why aren't salvage yards selling them to the smelters? Seems like they are leaving a viable revenue stream on the table.
Some do, some don’t care when they’re offered a guaranteed $150 a piece for each and then I sell them (they sell for anywhere from $80-$1200 each depending on content)
When you don’t specialize in something you can bet your ass someone else is making money off you.
That goes for everything. That’s business

So they are scrapping precious metals after 20 years of doing their thing and you buy it on paper and make money on it? Sounds like a good plan.

Their “thing” is usually the other parts they sell off the cars. The pm in cats is something that has grown in value substantially in the last 5-8 years. It won’t last forever but it’s working out great for now.
6 years ago rhodium was $700/oz and now it’s $20k

You must know which cats to buy. How do you determine that, when I am assuming there is a large pile of them at the yard? Do you physically have to remove them from select autos? It looks like the krautwagens bring the dough.

Makes sense considering emissions stds in Europe. I doubt they get one set of cats made for each market. But maybe. Dunno.

Yes, euro cars from around 92-15 bring the most, especially diesel model cats and dpf units. Domestic diesel trucks also, 08-15 cummins 6.7 bring around $1500 for the 2 cats and the dpf.
Yeah I’ve learned what to buy over the last few years.
I don’t physically remove them, just arrange for them to be removed and go there with cash and load up the trunk, anywhere from 10-30 at a time. Usually I don’t go myself but pay someone to do that.
Then they’re brought to me and I take them to a guy and he buys them. I get checks almost every day.
Here is another showing the 6.7 Cummins diesel totals near $1500 (1 domestic and 2 dodge)

Some are the same, some different. I’ve actually looked at importing them for profit but the guys here don’t know some of the euro ones and need to learn the content to pay out fairly. May be too much hassle

Not at all. It's paper. That doesn't make sense to anyone.
