Preface: there are no verifiable sources to date. This maybe a total rumor, however this article was released due to the traction it has recieved on social media and prior to that was the chatter at the NRA last week. So please take it at face value for now and be ready to call and wrote your elected officials if it becomes an official proposal.
It appears our old buddies at the ATF maybe up to it again. Rumor is they're considering redefining a pistol grip shotgun as a destructive device requiring a tax stamp to own. Its current legal classification is not a shotgun but a firearm and based on their ever moving subjective opinion.
And an exemption may not be possible since it's not a shotgun by legal definition. So legally speaking, even if the ATF or the Secretary of the Treasury wanted to make that exemption, it is legally impossible due to the classification of these “firearms.” Which means everyone that purchased a Mossberg 500 Cruiser became an accidental felon.
