Glad it contained it and he wasn't hurt.
He is very lucky. It pushed in the breech face also and made the firing pin look like a curly cue.
No, it's amazing that it didn't crack. It's garbage though because the breech face is wasted.
Looks like a squib followed by a charged round. .45 auto is low pressure, but nothing is low pressure with a bore obstruction.
I was going to guess obstructed bore. That was one lucky fellow there! He could have easily lost a finger or two had that been a different caliber!
Thanks, were both projectiles still in the bore? I would love to see how they interacted along with pressure signs on the case.
No, they were shot out but as you can see, severe damage. I'll post a pic of the firing pin tomorrow night, it looks like a pigs tail.
