Just ask. Do you spend $100+ on Magpul experimental mags or is Magpul Gen2 enough?
Same with AK mags. BF sales had decent South Korean mags for $4. Regular surplus can be found for 15-16, Tapco even cheaper. New production Bulgarian steel mags are $14 any day of the week. Poly are $15.
AR platform is not any simpler than AK to understand. Regular buffer, H1, H2, H3, regular spring, extra strength, extra strength woven, etc. Billet receiver, milled, billet forged, forged AND milled. AK has just stamped and milled. It is less intimidating to you, since you grew up using it. I grew up using AKs.
Just buy one and ask questions laterThat’s all true, I think. I was hoping to learn From the KK, but just got sucked into the Tom foolery and gave up on learning anything.
On a serios note, PM me with any AK questions.
I am up the road from you. You are always welcome to come by and handle a few AKs in person.

Wait... What...?I’d really like to take you up on that. Never having ever shot one, I have a hard time spending money on one. And I’m really afraid I’d buy a $300 AK for $1500 bucks.
Wait... What...?
Let's go shoot
