This should cause a discussion. What is the best rifle/carbine chambered in 9mm under $1000?

Colt makes one that can be had for around $1000 from time to time. I think the cmmg and stag 9 carbines run around $1000 too. You could also build one using a QC 10 lower and a PSA upper kit that should be good to go. If you don't go the PSA route, adco makes great barrels to go with a cmmg or other quality bolt carrier.

That's all just in the AR / colt smg platform but you could always look for a nice Uzi clone or a mpa defender carbine. I don't have any experience with these but nws or others should be able to chime in and give a blurb about which Uzi clones to buy or avoid.

Gonna depend on your definition of "best".

I have a Suomi that has a 70rd drum. Heavy as hell, though. But 70rd drums? Yeah, three drums and you could hold off the zombie apocalypse.

I have a Sterling carbine with 34rd mags. It's simple construction and a lot of fun to shoot.

You could argue a $200 Hi-Point and $800 worth of ammo would be the BEST carbine.

I'm guessing none of the 9mm carbines are any more accurate than the other. Come to think of it, I've never seen a comparison online. I like the Taurus carbine but the mag capacity hasn't been expanded. And the price is too high for what you get.

I read somewhere that the Taurus 9 carbine was discontinued.

Beretta CX4's can be had for sub $600 occasionally. That's the route I'd go. If not, build a PSA for $700.
