I can't say enough good things about the S&W 442 snub Mills; with Speer Gold Dot 135gr. +P (Short Barrel) you're well protected in a small, very reliable, long proven weapon.

Ray, we think alike.

I'm looking for a 442 as an alternate CCW. I loves me some S&W wheel guns!

I don't know why but 442's are kind of hard to find in stock. especially a "no lock" 442. great gun.

I've noticed that too YZ. I was just telling my wife how glad I am that I got it about 2 years ago. No lock model - $360 in hand from an FFL! Now, the few listed are running $500 on GunBroker (w/lock), and most places (Bud's, Impact Guns, Jet Guns) are out of stock!

A no-lock 642 with the finish that can be eaten off by Hopps #9.

I think the 442 has a reputation for finish coming off pretty easily also. I guess that's why it's $200 less than the other J's.

I think you may be mixing apples and oranges YZ. Usually, the 442 is only about $20 cheaper than the 642 stainless model (both .38+P rounds). It is around $200 less than the .357 snub models though!

I meant the 442 and the 642 (essentially same gun) vs the rest of the J frames.

Since I bought the PF9 on 1.31.12, I may be done for 2013.

I traded my Mossberg 500 tactical for the Glock a few years ago. Love the G26, but miss the Mossberg. If I can afford to buy one, that will be it.

My 1st new gun of 2013 is a 1953 Mosin Nagant Type 53 carbine. My second one is a 1915 Enfield, but its still in layaway at the local gun shop.

Agreed Dave. I am thinking about getting one for my mother. She is 80 and right now she has my old reliable Charter Arms 38. If she ever had to shoot it she would probably only get off one shot with her tired old hands. Thinking about getting one for her and letting my sister have the 38.
