Talked to a Ruger rep a while back at Gander Mountain. He said they are definitely gaining on the supply line. Now bigger stores are getting 5 to 10 at a time instead of 1 to 3. From my observations I think the quality of the SR1911 combined with the price point is what is making the demand stay so high. I have heard many a person say, " I paid a lot more for my (insert name) and I like my Ruger just as much if not more".

You have to understand 1911 style gun is very difficult to machine and takes a lot of time.
A striker fired gun takes very few parts and most are stamped and very cheap to manufacture.
A manufacture has to devote most of their machinery and time and labor in producing the cheapest And most profitable line of gun thy have.

Rich I would say that is why so many companies are pushing and advertising their tupperguns the way they do. I gotta believe they are a fast build.

The new striker fired firearms of today remind me of when I was a kid tearing apart the Japanese wind up toys made out of beer cans.
